An autonomous body in west Bengal that deals with examination of all the students who are in class 10 is known as West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. The special term used for examination conducted for class 10 in west Bengal is known as Madhyamik Pariksha. All over the state of West Bengal, this examination is conducted annually in the month of March or April. West Bengal Board of Secondary Education is also responsible for providing guidance to the state which is not within West Bengal. Even the state that lies near by west Bengal and that does not have a perfect examination board takes help from West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.

History about West Bengal Board of Secondary Education

The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education is established in the year 1951. The state legislature under the act 1950 has established this prestigious board in the particular state. The history also said that, West Bengal Board of Secondary Education was superseded by the state government not once but twice. The first time was within the period of 1954 to 1963 and the second time, the board superseded during 1978 to 1980. The journey was started with just the strength of 1270 students in Calcutta University. This was further increased to 2313 head at the end of the year 1963.

The functions of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education

The primary function of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education is to promote and make development of every aspect of education in the state of west Bengal. The board also acts as an advisory organ and intervenes in the matters of scientific advancement in the field of secondary education. West Bengal Board of Secondary Education has a duty to recognize the high schools. The syllabus and curriculum of the education in different standards are decided by West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. The board takes care of the proper standard and function of the departments. The students as well as teachers must obey the rules and regulations assigned by the educational organization for success.
