It's been a
journey of hope for Jyotsana Thirupati and Bhargavi Savarala Lokeshwari. The
two 13-year-old girls from an under-privileged background and studying in a
rural school have made it to the International Science and Engineering Fair
(ISEF) at Pennsylvania, USA next May.
Their work was chosen from among 1,000 independent research done in the junior
category by students all over the country at the Initiative for Research and
Innovation in Science (IRIS) fair.
The girls from Poduru village in Kuppam
district, Andhra Pradesh, will now get to live their dreams. "I'm excited
and happy I won the competition and will go to the US," said Jyotsana. At the
fair organized by Intel in association with the department of science and
technology, government of India
and Confederation of Indian Industry, their work, mentored and supported by the
Agastya Foundation, about the Vavalli plant got them top honours.
