
The IIM Bangalore has launched a certificate course in political leadership for grooming aspiring women politicians. The programme is three months long and is called India-Women in Leadership programme by the Centre for Public Policy and it aims to equip aspiring women leaders with the requisite skills, knowledege and expertise in various aspects of governance. It helps to strengthen their ability to contest elections, lobby for women's rights and strengthen the overall network of politically active women across India. The first batch will start the classes on July 16. Women hold a mere 10% of seats in India's parliament. The course will help to correct the imbalance in the Indian Political landscapre. Centre for Social Research , an NGO working on gender empowerment, is an active partner in designing the course. The programme will include lectures, field visits, and also a week eachof intensive exposure visits in Delhi and Singapore.
