Opinion essay Writing is known to be one of the most difficult activities, according to people who learn foreign languages. But you can look at this fact from the other side, writing is a great way to show your language level. After all, when writing various essays, our task is not only to use rich vocabulary and correct grammatical constructions, but first and foremost the ability to build your essay logically and argumentatively and only after that to "string" on it the rich vocabulary and grammar that we must certainly show. The topic of essay writing and the basic rules of its construction have already been considered earlier on our site in the article "How to Write an Essay in English".This article will deal with a more formal type of essay in English. In different tutorials you can come across different classifications of essays, but I will focus on four types, which can be found most often in preparation for various international exams, namely: Opinion essay. "For and against" essay. Providing solutions to problems essay. Speculating about the causes essay. It is worth noting that each of these types of essays requires careful attention, so let's take our time and consider each of them separately. In this article, we will talk about the so-called opinion essays. So, what are they? The name already tells us that when writing such an essay, our task will be to express and argue our opinion on some controversial issue. We should remember that all essays in question are characterized by the choice of a more formal style when writing them, you can read about the main differences in styles in the article "Formal English". Any essay you write or order from writing websites, regardless of its topic or purpose, has three parts, in case you are writing an essay, we must include the following information in each part: Introductory paragraph - here you clearly stipulate the topic, as well as your opinion on the topic. Keep in mind that the text you will include in this part will be different depending on what type of essay you are writing. So, if you understand from the topic of the given essay that you are asked to express your opinion on this or that issue, you can and should clearly indicate that opinion right here. Think about the fact that when reading your introduction, the examiner must clearly understand what your essay is going to talk about next, it is the introduction that sets the tone of your whole work. Main body - this part should consist of at least two paragraphs, each of which will contain one clearly stated and argued idea that will support your opinion on this or that issue. Don't try to cram many different ideas into one paragraph, even if you think it will only help convince the reader. Remember that each of them should express one clearly stated and complete thought. You can use life examples, interesting facts, statistics, etc. to support and illustrate your ideas. Another important point when writing this part of your essay are the so-called topic sentences. These are sentences with which you usually begin each new paragraph of the main part of your essay and, accordingly, a new idea/argument of your work. In other words, they are a summary of your entire paragraph, expressed in a single sentence. You could say that topic sentences are a kind of introduction to each new paragraph. For this reason, just as in the case with the introduction to the whole essay, after reading such a topic sentence, the examiner should already understand what will be discussed next, and all subsequent sentences should be a kind of support for the idea expressed by your first sentence. Conclusion - the final part, which once again reiterates your opinion on the issue at hand. Writing this part of the essay is both simple and complex at the same time. The simplicity lies in the fact that you do not need to invent new arguments, support them, try once again to explain or prove something, you just once again state your opinion about the issue in question, i.e. repeat what was already said in the introduction. The difficulty, however, is to express the same idea again in different words, without repeating the sentences you already used in the introduction.
