Tips for MAT Exam Preparation

This year's first Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is just around the corner, and with candidates having to solve 200 questions in 150 minutes so as to assess their speed and temperament, it is necessary to understand which questions should be put more importance upon, and keep a proper paper-solving process set in your mind.
The paper-based test is scheduled to be conducted on February 7 and the computer-based will be held February 13 onward. The candidates will be tested on five major sections, each having 40 questions: Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning and Indian and Global Environment.
Indian and Global Environment (GK) is not the part of the consolidated score, which is calculated taking only four areas into account. Hence, the scoring is done out of a maximum possible score of 160 marks.
Listed below are a few points which can help you score well in your MAT exam:
From the observation of MAT results in the recent past, it can be said that a total of 80 answers (excluding GK score) with 80 per cent accuracy can bring in a pretty good score. That stands to about a net score of 60-65 marks for an overall 95+ percentile. A net score of more than 82 marks (excluding GK score) is equivalent to an overall percentile of more than 99, while a net score more than 93 marks stands for a percentile of more than 99.9
Time division is essential in order to make sure that all the five sections of the entire paper can be attended properly. After the allocated time period, you must move on to the next section. To attain a balanced score across all the sections, self control is very important
The following time division, along with the target scores and the paper difficulty level, should give you adequate time to attempt a balanced number of questions from each section, with the possibility of the best percentile:
Language Comprehension: 30-35 minutes (18 marks)-- Moderate
Mathematical Skills: 35-40 minutes (13 marks)-- Difficult
Data Analysis and Sufficiency: 35-40 minutes (17 marks)-- Moderate
Intelligence and Critical Reasoning: 30-35 minutes (18 marks)-- Moderate
Indian and Global Environment: 5 minutes (8 marks)-- Moderately Difficult
Though time division and management are crucial for MAT, it is best to begin with a time-consuming section such as the mathematical skills section or data analysis and sufficiency section, just in case you need more than the allotted section time to complete it. If there is a need, you could try to complete an easier section, such as the language comprehension section in a shorter span
Since a percentile above 98 is required to get a call from the best B-schools, candidates must make sure that while preparing, they at least cover the first level problems of all the topics, so that the basic questions from each section can bring in marks.
About MAT
MAT is a standardised national level test being administered since 1988 to facilitate business schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admissions to MBA and allied programmes. It is the largest test of its kind in the nation, and is one's passport to over 600 B-schools across India. It is conducted four times a year, in the months of February, May, September and December.

The live dealer section is absolutely fantastic. The dealers are professional, and the quality of the streams is superb. It really feels like I’m at a physical casino. If you enjoy live casino games and are in Australia, I highly recommend checking out Golden Star Casino for an authentic gaming experience.
