Scholarship for Minority students

Applications have been invited from the students belonging to Minority Communities for sanctioning fresh scholarship.

The following Minority Communities who are pursuing Degree or Postgraduate level Professional /Technical Courses as notified by the Ministry of Minority Affairs from the Government /Govt. recognized Private Educational Institution, for sanctioning fresh scholarship allotted to religious Minorities of Tamil Nadu for the year 2010-11.
Muslims - 366 Nos.
Christians - 399 Nos.
Sikhs - 1 No.
Buddhists - 1 No.

Full course fee (except refundable deposits) will be reimbursed to those students studying in listed institutions as notified by the Ministry of Minority Affairs. For other institutions, course fee up to a maximum of Rs.20000 and maintenance allowance of Rs.10000 for hosteller @ Rs.1000 pm and Rs.5000 for Day Scholars @ Rs.500 pm
subject to a maximum of 10 months.

i) Students who got admission, on the basis of competitive examination or not facing competitive exam can avail scholarship provided they should have obtained 50% marks in the previous year final examination at Higher Secondary/Graduation level.
ii) The scholarship holder shall not avail any other scholarship/stipend from any other department
iii) 30% reserved for Women Candidates. If, sufficient women candidates are not available, male candidates will be selected.
v) The annual income from all sources of the student's parent or guardian should not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh.

Application forms are available from the website: www.minorityaffairs.gov.in and the filled-in application forms, scrutinised by The Principal/Registrar/Dean of the respective educational institution are to be forwarded with necessary documents to the Commissioner of Minorities Welfare, 807 (5th Floor), Anna Salai, Chennai-2.

Last date for submission of application is 13.08.2010 (Tuesday)
