Delhi Government-run schools register 87.54 per cent suc

Government-run schools in the city topped the category of best performing government institutions across the country for the fifth consecutive year with a success rate of 87.54 per cent in the CBSE class XII exams results of which was announced.
 
However, overall pass percentage of Delhi Government schools have declined by 1.33 per cent compared to last year's 88.87 per cent.
 
"It is a remarkable achievement and I congratulate principals, teachers, students and parents for the retaining the number one position for Delhi," Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said.
 
He said with a pass percentage of 85.48, Delhi ranked second after Chennai in overall category. Last year the overall pass percentage in Delhi was 84.97.
 
"Despite being put on duties for Commonwealth Games and Census, our teachers have done exceedingly well in guiding the students to do well," said Lovely.
 
Girls continue to outperform boys as their pass percentage was 89.72 comparing 81.58 per cent of boys.
 
The Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalayas (RPVVs), modelled on some of best private schools, achieved pass percentage of 97.92 per cent which is more than that of Kendriya Vidyalayas (95.66 per cent) and public schools of Delhi (89.06 per cent).
       
Lovely said 70 government schools achieved 100 per cent results against 63 schools last year. "Moreover, 398 government schools achieved 90 per cent success rate.
 
Asked about decline in pass percentage of Government schools, lovely said it was a difference of only 1.33 per cent and said 98,000 students passed the class XII this year in government schools against last year's 87,000.
