State promises early SSC, HSC results

Updated on: Wednesday, September 21, 2011

HSC and SSC students can expect early results from next year. The school education department is trying to declare HSC results by May 10 and Std X results by May 25. The department also plans to release students’ marksheets within three days of the declaration of the results online.

These measures will help start the junior college admission process early in June. In an inaugural video-conferencing session, relayed across several centres in the state, of the school education department, chairman of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Ujwala Patil said, “We are trying to declare the results early and will also ensure that students get their marksheets within 3-4 days of the online declaration of the results.”

This year, the SSC results were declared online on June 17, but the students received their marksheets on June 26. The HSC students received their marksheets on June 6 though the results were declared online on May 27. The junior college admission process started only after the students had received their marksheets. The state government has been planning to advance the result dates for the past couple of years with marginal success.

Meanwhile, there has been an increase in the number of students appearing for the September/October exams, scheduled to start from September 29 ,due to poor HSC and SSC results. “More than 4.19 lakh students will appear for the exams. We had to increase the numbers of centres by 177 this year,” added Patil.
