It is felt, that earlier order was illegal. It seems that university grants commission also felt that the earlier order illegal as it violated the central university act. According to the reliable source, according to the act the first time VC will not get extension beyond 5 years.

At the same time, the selection process for new vice chancellors of 12 universities are also facing constraints when G.K.Chandha former Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University passed away Chandha was the member of the search committees for central universities of Rajasthan and Punjab. According to the sources, search panel can continue with one member less. Executive council will still have 2 nominees left in the panel. Chandha was the nominee of the executive council of both the universities in the search panel.

Globally speaking, India’s top rated Institute Punjab university ranks between 226 and 250 according to the national assessment and Accreditation council (NAAC). 62% of the universities accredited rated average or below average. A.N.Rai the Director of NAAC, said that only 11% of the accredited institutions are “A” grade while 71% are “B” grade, other 18% are in the “C” grade which is the lowest. Financial crises and lack of infrastructures may be the reason for the institutions run by the Govt. sector. But, this is serious warning regarding the quality of Educator is concerned.
