Why IIT-M was not top ranked Institute globally? This was the topic of the talks during Alumni Day on Friday. The Alumni met on that day were curious to know why the IIT-M was lagging behind other IIT’s in ranking. They also interested to know the performance graft on campus.

The important questions in the mind of the alumni is, while the pass out Alumni are striving in the fields whatever they have gone it, why the place where from they received their advocating did not take in the top 200 list in colleges globally.

They response for this question by the experts of IIT is the methodology of figuring an Institutions are ranking never considered National building Activity. IIT-M is believing Nation building.

Davud Koil Pillai, the Dean of infrastructure and planning said the ranking organization did not take into consideration various factors, in particular the institutions contribution to nation building. He particularly pointed the IIT-M’s involvement and participation in the result GSLV launch and development of the Crew module is not mentioned in the ranking.

He also stated that IIT-M’s contribution to DRDO is very vital to them as well as nation building that it is not credited.

Basker Ramamurthy, IIT-M Director pin pointed about the commercial intends in the ranking factor and said the some of best German and French Engineering Institutions also did not figured in the ranking list. He also said that IIT-M’s are managing reasonably well because of the alumni.
