Maharashtra government has extended the time of applying for pre-matric scholarship by students belonging to the minority community by one month to September 20.

Minister for Minority Affairs Mohammed Arif Naseem Khan said the decision will help minority students from across the state to apply for the scheme in large numbers.

Similarly, proposals for seeking grants of Rs two lakh for infrastructure upgradation of minority schools will be accepted till September 30, he said.

Students from standard one to ten with 50 per cent marks and whose annual family income is less than Rs 2.5 lakh can apply for the central government-run pre-matric scheme till September 26.

Under the scheme, students get Rs 1000 as scholarship money. The applications for availing the scheme are available online and all minority educational institutions should submit the forms of all eligible students by September 20, the minister said.

Khan said all aided and non-aided minority schools are eligible for receiving the grant of Rs two lakh for infrastructure upgradation.
