Delhi to provide scholarships for class V toppers

In an effort to encourage students to continue studies after primary education, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi,  has decided to award Rs.5,000 scholarship annually for three years to Class V toppers in its schools.

With Delhi Municipal corporation having 1,639 primary schools with 10 lakh students, this scholarship will aid 272 top students in getting education in class VI, VII and VIII.

Dr. Mahindra Nagpal, the chairman of MCD's education committee expressed that students of MCD schools are doing good in studies and such initiatives will further bring better results.

Though, schools only impart education till class V, students will continue receiving scholarship for three consecutive years when they are shifted to other schools.

Students of schools facing water scarcity will be provided with water bottles to bring water from home.

Having earmarked Rs.3.6 cr for the purpose of buying tablet PCs, the civic body stated that the gadget would be distributed to the students soon.
