With a competitive environment, students and parents are finding it hard to fund education. As the admission season approaches, a lot of students are going to be on the lookout for options. So when colleges run out of trust-led scholarships , it is time for one to turn to corporate scholarships. In order to improve their CSR standing, many corporate groups have introduced scholarships to enable deserving students to acquire the education of their choice at prominent colleges and universities.

Kanchan Bahirat is a student of MTech ( IIT-Bombay ) and a recipient of L'oreal India's 'For Young Women in Science' scholarship. The scholarship helped Bahirat to complete her graduation. L'oreal India entered the ninth year of its annual scholarship that grants young women the opportunity to pursue a career of their interest in the scientific field. A scholarship of Rs 25 lakh is disbursed to 10 deserving young women over a period of four years.

Also, India's coffee conglomerate Café Coffee Day, recently announced a scholarship that amounts to a total of Rs five crore to 68 students. CCD, having associated with the Foundation of Liberal And Management Education (FLAME), the collaboration will give out scholarships to students who wish to pursue courses in business, communication , liberal education and performing arts. "Our attempt is to break the conventional confines that prevent students from exploring what they really want to do in an environment of culture and value-based education," explains Indira Parikh, former dean of IIMAhmedabad, and a founding president of FLAME.
