National School of Drama (NSD) Screening Test

The National School of Drama (NSD) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Culture, Govt of India. The School conducts Screening Test towards its three year course leading to Post Graduate Diploma in Dramatic Arts.

Graduate in any subject from a recognised university. He/she should be proficient in Hindi and English. Should have participated in at least 6 plays or in any other theatre related activity.
Age- the candidates should be between 18-30 years of age. For candidates belonging to the SC/ST categories, there is an age relaxation of five years.

The Screening Process involves two stages. The first stage comprises of an audition/ practical test. Candidates who are successful in Stage I qualify for the second stage which involves a 3 to 5 day workshop on the campus of NSD, New Delhi. Auditions are held at Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore and Mumbai.

The candidates should apply for the screening test in the prescribed form. Every year on the month of February the detailed notification for the exam is available in the leading newspapers. The candidates can send a request for screening test form to the given address. They must enclose the crossed DD from the nationalized Bank in favor of �The Director, NSD�. The cost of NSD screening test form is Rs.150/-.

Notification for the Screening Test: On the Month of February, 2012
Applications form will be available: mid week of March, 2012
Last date for submission of completed application forms: End of third week of April, 2012
Screening Test: On the Month of May o June, 2012

The result of the first stage of the selection process will announced after the audition or practical test. The selected candidates will direct to the workshop carried out in New Delhi. The result of the second phase of selection will announce after one week and it will be published in the NSD website. The selected candidates will also get the conformation through mail.

The score of the screening test will valid for one year and will be applicable for the admission process only. For the admission purpose of the coming year the candidates should take the next year audition.
