Structure and Syllabus of NEED

The NID NEED constitutes of three aptitude test with each paper constitutes of 60 marks. The exam evaluates the candidate�s aptitude and creativity. The test also examines the candidate�s innovative and critical analyzing power of the applicant. The test areas include,

  • Drawing
  • Creativity
  • Communication Skills

The written examination followed by studio test and personal interview. The examination doesn�t follow any prescribed syllabus and the question areas include,

  • Thematic Colour Arrangement
  • Subjects of Design.
  • Sensitivity to Environment
  • Memory Drawing
  • Knowledge of Proportions and Perspective
  • General Mental Ability
  • Drawing Skills

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates should pass higher secondary with minimum 50% marks in the final year examination. The candidates from any streams from the recognized board can apply for the examination. The final year students can apply for the exam, but at the time of admission, they must provide the eligibility proof. The technical know how will consider as an extra advantage during the selection process. The reservation category will get needed consideration as per the Government norms. The minimum age should be not less than seventeen years.

How to Apply?

The application form can be download from the official website and the filled form cn send to the set address with the bank demand draft Rs.1500/-. The forms will also available by post by sending the request letter for application form to the National institute of Design with the DD for the application form. He student can also directly purchase the form with the cash payment from the admission office of eth institute. For the reservation group the form will cost only Rs.750/-.

How to fill the Form?

The candidates must be very carefully while filling the form. They have to understand the directions given in the bulletin and follow exactly the same. They can take a copy of the form and fill it first for avoiding the mistakes. The information given should be in capital letters and can use either a pencil or pen for filling the form, as suggested in eth booklet. The candidates must paste a recent photo on the suggested columns.

There may be some requirement in the size of the photo and candidates should follow it. They also make sure that they put the signature on the recommended places. They must ensure that the data enter should be valid and as per the official proofs. Keep the photocopy of the completely filled form for the future needs. Recheck the fillings and send the form along with the necessary document to the admission office of eh institute before the last date.

Since the available seats in the institute is less and the exam is held on the national basis the competitive level of eth examination is high. Cutoff for National Entrance Examination for Design

The cutoff will vary according to each year and nature of the questions. It also vary according to the institute and normally the student must score above 70% to get the admission into the desired institutes.
