Entrance Exam for Undergraduate Courses in Dentistry � All India

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts an Entrance exam on an All India basis and invites applications online. Candidates can download the Information Bulletin online from the website www.aipmt.nic.in and submit applications online.

Requirements

Candidates are required to obtain printouts of the confirmation page of their applications, along with the original receipt issued by the Post Office for despatch of the Online Application only by Registered or Speed Post, the proof of fees that have been paid, 3 copies of photograph, with their names and application numbers written on the back. Applicants are required to sign the form as well affix their left hand thumb impression, and obtain the signature of their parents/guardians, and the form has to be authenticated by a Gazetted Officer or Head of Institution.

The Test

It is held in single stage and is an objective test, and is usually held on a Sunday in the month of May. The Examination Centre and Language of question paper has to be chosen by the candidate while applying. The Admit Card can be downloaded from the website. The Result, Score Card/ Rank Letter can also be obtained from the website and candidates will be informed through e-mail till the final round of counselling is over.

The Test Pattern

The duration of the Test is 3 hours and it consists of 180 objective questions with four options for a single answer on a machine-gradable sheet, from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology). The language of the Paper is to be opted for by the candidates, and the choice is between English and Hindi.

Eligibility

Candidates should have completed 17 years of age before 31st December of the year of admission to the 1st year of the BDS course, but should not be more than 25 years of age on that date. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Tribes or Other Backward class categories have an age relaxation of 5 years.

Reservations

15% of the seats are reserved for SC candidates and 7.5% for ST candidates.

Results

Results are declared usually by the 1st week of June and are posted on the website. The CBSE prepares a merit list/ wait list as per the directives of the Supreme Court of India, the Directorate General of Health Services, the Medical Council of India and the Dental Council of India.
