Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Test (JKCET)

Introduction

JKCET - a common entrance exam in Jammu and Kashmir - is conducted every year by the Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BPEE) in Jammu and Kashmir State by an Act of the State Legislative for the selection of candidates for admission to various professional courses in Jammu and Kashmir. In Jammu and Kashmir, admission through JKCET entrance to undergraduate courses such as engineering, medical, agriculture and dental is based upon the JKCET test scores. Both the Government aided and private institutions in J&K will accept the merit ranking of CET for admission into various programs.

The government of Jammu and Kashmir, therefore, in the year 1987 constituted a full -time J&K CET examining body, Competent Authority engineering & medical entrance examinations in Jammu & Kashmir. Before 1987, selections for engineering & medical courses in J&K the state were made by a designated Government Department in the Civil Secretariat as an additional item of its work. Gradually, the number of students who were appearing in J&K CET entrance examinations increased and, as a consequence, the work of organizing entrance examinations also increased.

Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Test (JKCET) Eligibility Criteria

Candidate must successfully fulfil below described qualification criteria in JK CET engineering entrance.

  • Must be permanent residents of J&K State as defined in Section 6 of the Constitution of the J&K.
  • Passed Hr. Sec. Part II (12th / 10+2) or an equivalent examination from a recognised statutory Board or University.
  • Have obtained 50 % marks in aggregate in 10+2 examination in case of general category and 40% in aggregate in case of reserved categories candidates.
  • Have passed 10+2 examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and Math as their elective subjects in case of admission to Bachelor of Engineering Courses.

Age Limit:For appearing into J&K CET engineering & medical courses candidates must have attained 17 years of age before 31 December of the year of examination.

Admission Procedure for Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Test (JKCET)

The application form with the Information Brochure is made available at all District Headquarters in the specified Branches of the Jammu & Kashmir Bank Ltd. against a requisite fee. In addition to the above fee, candidates should pay service charges as may be fixed by the Bank.

Pattern for (JKCET)

Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BPEE) conducts the common entrance test for admitting students in various private and government institutes in the state. The question paper pattern of JKCET entrance exam is as described to take admission in JKCET engineering & medical degree courses .

  • The JKCET question paper consists of multiple choice type questions.
  • Question will be based on the subjects of Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry.
  • The Jammu & Kashmir CET ( J&K CET Examination ) will be of three papers Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of 75 marks and 90 minutes each.
  • Each question in J&K CET Entrance consists paper .
  • Questions in the entrance test are only in English.
  • No Negative marking procedure in J&K BPEE CET engineering & medical entrance examination.

Candidates will be part of JKCET engineering entrance only if they fulfil JKCET admission qualification .
