About JIPMER

JIPMER is an All India based Institution under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It is a Post Graduation Medical Education and Research.
It has been declared as an Institution of National Importance by a parliamentary Act 2008. The Institution is now empowered to award Medical Degrees, Diplomas etc., under the clauses of 23 & 24 of the Act. Such degrees / diploma etc, shall be deemed to be included in the schedules to the respective Acts governing Medical Councils of India, Indian Nursing Council and Dental Council of India entitling the holders to the same previlages as those attached to the equivalent awards from the recognized universities of India.

Admissions to MBBS course is through an Entrance Examination conducted by JIPMER at various centres once every year. In addition certain category of students are admitted through Government of India nominators, that is Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
JIPMER has 28 academic departments imparts UG, PG and superspeciality Medical Training through working Hospital and Nursing College. B.Sc Nursing and Medical Lab Technology courses and PG Degree in 20 disciplines are offered. Superspeciality Departments of Cardiology, Neurology, Cardiothoracic surgery, Neuro Surgery, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Neonatology, clinical Immunology also offer D.M /M.Ch courses. Full time Ph.D programmes are available in 6 disciplines.

Objectives of Under Graduate (UG) Medical Educatin of JIPMER

• To Integrate basic and clinical sciences with intensive clinical mentoring and community based training
• To facilitate students knowledge with hands on training
• To assess competency based learining after specified period
• To meet the core outcomes set by Medical Council of India (MCI) for Graduate medical education.

JIPMER Entrance Examination Dates

Eligibility For JIPMER

• The Applicant should be a Resident of Indian national
• The Applicant should have studied and completed their course in the schools located in India in preceding 2 years (except for those admitted against the seats reserved for foreign students nominated by Indian Govt)
• 17 years completed of age

Qualification

• Higher / Senior Secondary examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10 + 2 Higher / Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study. The last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, biology / Botany and Zoology ( including Practical) and with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Trasining after introduction of the 10 + 2 +3 educational structure as recommended by the National committee on education and
• The applicant must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biolgy / Botany & Zooloogy and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology at the qualify examination.
• SC / ST : Minimum Marks : 40%
• A) Any other Qualification, the candidate should submit the Eligibility certificate
• Foreign National has to submit the Eligibility Certificate

• The prospectus Form may be obtained by cash payment from State Bank of India, JIPMER campus, Pondicherry – 605006. (refer Ad)
• The prospectus form may also be had from profession (Academic), JIPMER, Puducherry – 605006 through postal requests, accompanied by MICR Bank Draft in facour of “Accounts Oficer, JIPMER”.
• The candidate who are applying in the off – line application form obtained from the Institution through post or in person to SBI in JIPMER have to send the filled in application from along with acknowledgement card.
