 IIT – KHARAGPUR Controversy

One of the West Bengal states important academic Institutions, the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur is now under controversies.

The institutes is one of the 20 best Institutions according to a study.  But, this 62 year old institution has been functioning without an official director since July 1, 2012.  The staff, students, faculty and alumini are demanding the appointment of a regular director in Delhi.

Partha Pratim Chakarbarthy was selected in 2012 as Director but he has not been permitted to assume office, without the clearance from Central vigilance commission (CVC) because he was one among who is suspected to be involved in coal net Scam. It is understood from reliable sources. That coal India Ltd has spent around Rs.700 crores on the project and not much work has done for the past 3 years.
