 Chief Minister’s Appeal regarding National Eligibility Entrance Test for Medicine

J. Jayalalitha, the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu objected to UPA government is decision to file a review petition in the Supreme Court on NEET for UG and PG Medical and Dental courses

She wrote a letter to Hon. Prime Minister of India stating the government objected to seek a review of the SC Judgment. She added that aher government will support the introduction of NEET.

On July 18, the Supreme Court quashed the notification of Medical Counsel of India introducing the NEET.

Tamil Nadu abolished the Common Entrance Examination in 2005 for professional UG courses since it was disadvantages to rural students.

The state provides 69% reservation for BC / MBC / SC / ST in education and employment. The introduction of NEET will create confusion and litigations.
