25th edition of Kerala Science Congress to be held here from January 29 to February 1.

'Science Education and Research' will be the theme of the 25th edition of Kerala Science Congress, organised by Kerala  to be held here from January 29 to February 1.
   
Being organised by the R&D Centre of the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment and Technopark, the theme is  in keeping with India's aspirations of becoming a knowledge based economy.
   
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the Congress at Technopark here on January 29, President of Kerala Science Congress Prof. V.N.Rajasekharan Pillai told reporters here.
  
In a bid to evaluate its contribution, the Congress from this edition on would have a dedicated session to analyse its prospects and retrospects.KSCSTE has constituted a committee to study the impact of KSC in the last 3-5 years.
   
Pillai said former Executive Vice Presidents and Chairmen of STEC and KSCSTE would discuss and debate the committee's technical report in this year session's titled 'Prospects and Retrospects of 25th KSC.
  
Another attraction is an exhibition titled 'Sasthra Jalakam- The National Science Expo', involving participation of major R&D organizations, S&T Institutions and industry. It will also host a 'Students Science Exhibition' and 'People Science Pavilion'. To be held at Kanakakunnu Palace here from January 28 to February 3, it will be open to the public.
   
A day-long session on 'Mathematical Sciences' and a special session on 'Science education and communication in Malayalam'' are other important aspects of the Congress. Science Literature Awards announced by KSCSTE this year will be distributed by Chandy at the inaugural, he added.
