A thousand clicks to a world record

Updated on: Wednesday, February 15, 2012

There are many way of attracting attention to one’s organisation or event. The students of Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT) are attempting a Guinness record as a highlight of their inter-college arts festival ‘Bharatham 12’.

The staff and students of the college are planning to capture their own faces using digital cameras, thereby attempting to achieve a world record of over 1,000 camera clicks in a second. The event will be held on February 15, and it is the first time in the history of FISAT that something like this is being attempted.

“We wanted to publicise ‘Bharatham 12’ and do something different. Nobody has ever tried to come up with such an innovative idea in the previous years,” says Nitish R., a final year computer science student.

Celebrating the 10th anniversary, FISAT has carved a niche for itself in education as well as extracurricular activities.

Other than making a mark in the various inter and intra-college festivals, the students are also involved in various clubs and associations such as Nature’s Club, Photography Club and Sports Club. “Professional and personal growth are equally important for a student and FISAT is the perfect platform for students with such activities,” says Suraj R., another student.
‘Bharatham 12’ is centered on the theme ‘Retro’ this year. Says Shebin A.L., “FISAT is the only professional college that gives so much importance to arts and culture. Teachers also support and encourage the students to participate in these activities.”
