Stellar performance in the state

Poornima B. Koli, a Std. X student of Bahubali Vidyapeeth Mandal's Bharatesh High School in Bellada Bagewadi of Hukkeri taluk in Belgaum district, secured top place in the “19th State-level Children's Science Congress-2011” held on the main campus of Gulbarga University.

The Karnataka State Vignana Parishat (KSVP) had organised the event to select candidates from the state for the 19 National Children's Science Congress. She did her project on the theme “Land Recourse: Use for Prosperity, Save for Posterity” slated to be held in Jaipur from December 27 to 31.
Bring out talent

These events are organised annually with the objective of not only to facilitate an opportunity to showcase their talent and interest in the latest developments in science and technology, but also to inculcate scientific temperament among the young school children and popularise science and technology.

About 1,200 children grouped in 340 teams led by their teacher-guides participated in the state level event and a panel of judges selected models for the national level competitions.
Young Scientist

Of the 30 models to be selected for the national event, 15 are from rural and urban-based schools.

Poornima secured first place in the rural category and won the KSVP's “Young Scientist” award.

Her project “Land resources: Organic manure” has been selected for the Jaipur event.

She carried out the project under the guidance of the Assistant teacher of the school, D.D. Desai.

The school organised a felicitation function in her honour. Mahantesh Koujalgi, MLC congratulated her and wished her for the forthcoming event.
