BHAVANS LAD WINS LAURELS IN MATHS OLYMPIAD

Vipin S., a Class 12 student of Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya in Kakkanad has topped the Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO) of Mathematics in the state.

The Mathematical Olympiad, which was held on Dec. 4 in Chinmaya Vidyalaya was organised by the National Board for Higher Mathematics and funded by the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.

The RMO is the preliminary level of the International Mathematical Olympiad, which is hosted for high school students in the country. A regional coordinator is responsible for conducting tests in every region and in Kerala, the Cochin University of Science and Technology conducted this competition.

The Mathematic Olympiad is a problem solving competition. The next level is the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO), which is scheduled in February.

From the INMO, 35 students across the country will be selected and they will have to undergo an orientation programme. Of the 35, six will represent India for the International Mathematical Olympiad.
