Parents picket school over directive of headmistress

Updated on: Thursday, December 01, 2011

Angry parents picketed a government girls high school here in protest against the headmistress' order to students not to wear flowers, bangles or anklets, leading to her withdrawing the order.

The Headmistress had ordered that students should not wear gold ornaments and also remove flowers before entering the school.

The parents who came to know of it blocked the school  entrance and entered into a heated argument with her over her directive.

The headmistress explained she had only asked the children not to wear expensive gold ornaments and apologised to the parents for asking the children not to wear flowers.

Later the order was withdrawn on the instructions from Education department officials.
