IIM Nagpur will be Mentored by IIM Ahmedabad

IIM NagpurChief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis has inaugurated the first of the six Indian Institutes of Management the Narendra Modi government promised last year. It will be mentored by IIM-Ahmedabad, it will commence with a strength of 60 candidates in a temporary building, which is being located in Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology.

"The IIM Ahmedabad had volunteered to mentor the IIM Nagpur" said IIM Ahmedabad director Ashish Nanda, during the launch ceremony. In a quote to Economic Times, Nanda says, "We decided to take the learning and advice from IIM Ahmedabad, and learn some of the best methods of global business schools, and also wish IIM Nagpur to develop in its own unique style and embark its unique name in the field of management Institutes."

The leadership of IIM-Nagpur, will be taken over by IIM-Ahmedabad's Dean Programme Ajay Pandey while professors Chetan Soman and Pradyumana Khokle will take leadership of the course design and curriculum.

At the end of the first semester, students will be given Industrial work opportunity on field for both government and private. This will be a mandatory work in curriculum as the field experience is required for 25 percent of the total score for assessment in IIM-Nagpur. In Amritsar, Vishakhapatnam, Sirmaur, Bodh Gaya, and Sambalpur new IIM's are expected to come soon.
