Mr. P.S. Mani Sundaram pioneer in technical education passed away

Mr. P.S. Mani Sundaram a veteran Educationist who was a pioneer in fine tuning technical Education in the country passes away in Chennai and he was 87.

Mr. Mani Sundaram was the first principal of the Regional Engineering College (REC), (presently National Institute of Technology) Trichy and the first vice Chancellor of Bharathidasan University. Since he was deeply involved in the college and the college itself is called as Manisundaram college.

Prof. Mani Sundaram’s native is Myanmar and he did his M.S in Civil Engineering from Nova Scotia University, Canada.  He started his career as lecturer from Alagappa Chettiar College in Karaikudi from 1958.

He was considered as the youngest principle of his times since become the principal at the age of 33 itself.  He introduced many novel and unique programs and some of the programs are of the first in its kind in the country.  He produced many experts in the field. His awareness programs, were very popular and useful.  He was instrumental in starting Bharathidasan Institute of Management, one of the top Indian B-Schools in 1984. People appreciates his extraordinary memory power.
