MSU to get Rs 1-cr grant for tribal women's hostel

The Union Social Welfare Ministry has decided to give a grant of Rs. 1 crore to the Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) here for building a hostel for the scheduled tribe women.

This was informed by MSU Vice-Chancellor Ramesh K Goyal. Talking to newspersons today, he said, "the University Grants Commission (UGC) has also given a grant of Rs 2.50 crore to the university for building a women's hostel."

At present there are four women's hostels on the university campus. During his visit to the city on December 28, Nobel laureate Venkat Ramkrishnan will deliver a lecture in the university campus.

Later, the university will confer an honorary degree of doctor of science on him at its annual convocation to be presided over by Gujarat Governor Kamla, Goyal added.
