Professor from Jamia wins young scientist award

A biotechnology professor at the Jamia Milia University has won the first prize in the young scientists award category in the third International Conference on Parthenium-2010 (ICP-2010).

The young scientist, Mohammad Irfan Qureshi, presented a paper in the field of plant molecular biology titled 'Introducing the Weedomics: Understanding the Tolerance Mechanism of Weeds.'

The conference which was held on Dec 8-10 was organised by the Indian Agricultural Research  Institute (IARI) and Entomological Society of India in Delhi.

"The organising committee appreciated the newly introduced concept of Weedomics and expressed that with time this branch of science will grow into an independent area. The conference was attended by eminent scientists from the US, Australia, Brazil among others," the statement said.
