Madurai music college offers stipend for degree courses

Admissions are on at the Tamil Nadu Government Music college , Madurai for the three year degree courses in vocal music, veena, violin, flute, mridangam, nadaswaram, bharatanatyam and folklore department. It also provides ample opportunity to learn music with the help of a monthly stipend of rs.250.

A release issued by the district collector N.Mathivanan states that candidates aged between 13 & 18 who have passed class 8 are eligible to apply for these coursed. However restrictions will be eased to candidates who have expertise in music and also based on their interest in music.

Admissions are also on for one year music teacher training degree. eligibility criterai for this course are the candidates should have passed class 10 and hold a B.A music (isaikalaimani) degree in vocal music, veena and violin or "Vaathiyakalaimani" for flute, mridangam and nadaswaram and should be in the age group of 16 to 25.

Likewise admissions are also open for government music college (evening) for which classes are held at Madura college higher secondary school. two year certificate courses is being offered in Indian music in vocal cusic, veena, violin, flute, mridangam, nadaswaram and bharatanayam.

classes are held between 6pm and 8pm and there is no age restriction for the evening college. Applications are available at the office of Tamil Nadu government music college from 10am to 5pm on working days. for further details contact the college on 0452 2370861.
