Appointments in varsities in Kerala left to PSC

Updated on: Thursday, December 16, 2010

The LDF Government in Kerala today decided to leave appointments in non-teaching posts in all the univerisities in the state to Public Service Commission (PSC).

The decision was taken by the state cabinet in view of recent adverse court references over alleged corruption and irrugularities in appointments in universities.

"The directions of courts have also been taken into account while taking this decision", Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan told reporters.

Being autonomous institutions, it has been the practice of universities make recruitments on their own to all posts.
However, largescale irregularities had been alleged in tests conducted by some of the universities in the state.
