IGNOU launches programmes in agriculture

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) launched diploma and certificate programmes in agriculture and allied sectors, an official said.

"Diploma programme is of a year's duration, while certificate courses would be of six months. The university is offering 50 percent fee concession for students from rural areas and those below poverty line," the official added.

The programmes aim to train students for technical and managerial positions.

Courses include processed products, poultry technology, organic farming and water harvesting, among others.

Admissions are open till Nov 30, he added.

IGNOU is one of the world's largest open universities which provides education to 1.5 million students.
