CAT takes off after initial delay

Updated on: Wednesday, October 27, 2010

After an initial delay, the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2010 went on without any major glitches in the three centres where it was held in the city.

According to students who took CAT on day one, the number of glitches faced was fewer than last year.

There was a difficulty in logging in to the system initially. Authentication failure and software hanging were the two main glitches that caused delays.

There was a delay of about 15 minutes but the support staff ensured that the problem was sorted out swiftly, said officials in-charge of a centre.

CAT is being conducted online for the second year in succession.

In Chennai, the test was conducted at Everonn Educational Limited in Perungudi, Vel Tech Engineering College, Avadi and Savitha Engineering College, Sriperumbudur.

Students should be mentally prepared for technical glitches and understand that their chances are not hampered by the glitches, but by getting tensed because of the glitches, said Vinayak Kudva of IMS Learning Resources.
