Mandarin to be introduced
HRD Minister, Kapil Sibal has announced that Mandarin will soon be introduced into the CBSE curriculum. India and China had discussed modalities in order to provide training to a large number of Indian teachers so that they could acquire the language skills needed for them to teach the language course. “The best way to introduce China in India would be by first introducing its language, Mandarin, at the primary level in schools so that children in India can develop an interest and knowledge in China,” the Minister said.

Easing stress levels
In order to help students in Classes X and XII overcome stress due to academic pressure, schools in Bengaluru have begun providing snacks to students before special classes. Principal of Geethanjali Vidyalaya Nagarathna, S. Murthy said that regular classes at their school get over by 3 pm after which, students are given refreshments so that they retain the required energy to study. The case is the same at Florence Public High School and at Clarence Public School where students are also provided the service of being dropped back home after special classes.

Schools can set papers
The CBSE has announced that schools affiliated to it can now set their own question papers for the term-end SA exams under the CCE system. Last year, when CCE was introduced, question papers were prepared by CBSE.
