XIMB Students reach out to underprivileged school children

Updated on: Tuesday, August 31, 2010

A group of students of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) have come forward to upgrade the infrastructure in three schools for underprivileged children, meet the basic needs of pupils and hone their creative abilities.

The team, under the guidance of Fr Tony Uvary, Dean Administration, has launched the initiative 'Parivartan' by catering to the requirements of the school children and
organising extra curricular activities to discover their hidden talents.

The team comprising MBA students recently organised a painting competition for the students of these schools, supported by Human Life Centre (HLC), giving them an outlet to express their creativity and develop skills, a XIMB release said here.

Besides distributing stationery items and study materials to the children, they also embarked upon renovating and refurbishing the classrooms.

Other concerns on which the team is working included addressing the problem of non-availability of text books and unhygienic condition in the schools. Class rooms and furniture of the schools are also being repaired wherever needed.

An inter-school sports meet for all the schools, supported by HLC was organised last week in which a large number of students took part with enthusiasm.
