HP earmarks 17% budget for education

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said 17 per cent of the state budget has been earmarked for education.
   
"The government has earmarked 17 per cent of the total state budget for education and allied activities," he said on the concluding session of the two-day conclave on 'Quality education in HP and directions' organised by NGO Ashadeep.
   
Underlining the need to bring qualitative improvement in education system, he said 17 per cent students in the state are going to colleges as against the national average of 11 per cent.
