Maths lab set up in two Chennai Schools

Maths promises to get more interesting for students of two Chennai Schools as the Chennai Corporation on Wednesday opened a Mathematics lab each in the institutions. The facilities at the Chennai Higher Secondary School, Tiruvottiyur and Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School in Saidapet were inaugurated by Mayor M. Subramaniam. Speaking at a function organised at the school in Saidapet, the Mayor said that within a month 67 new libraries would be opened in Chennai High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools.

According to a release from the Corporation, the Maths lab would benefit students of classes VI, VII and VIII. A total of 1,500 students would be benefitted in the first phase.

The cost of the first phase of the project is Rs.8.06 lakh, including the Rs.3.89 lakh worth equipment funded by the Tamil Nadu Small Industries Corporation. Ramanujan Museum and Math Education Centre would train teachers and help these labs function for a period of three years, the release said.
