National award for primary school HM

K. Vijayakumari, Headmistress of the Panchayat Union Primary School, Velampatti village, Kaveripattinam Union in Krishnagiri district has bagged the National Award for Best Teacher for the year 2009.

A communication in this regard was received by Ms. K. Vijayakumari from K. Sathish Nambudiripad, Director, Ministry of Human Resources Development, Department of School Education & Literacy.

She has already won bagged several awards such as Dr. Radhakrishnan Award in the year 2006-2007, Best Teacher Award from the State Government in the year 2007.

She has also authored several books.

Apart from this, she got an award from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad for her book on ‘Open a School; Close a few jails'.

She also received letters of praise from the former President of India A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for her collection of poems and essays.

Ms. Vijayakumari joined as secondary grade teacher in the year 1979 at the Urdu Government Primary School in Denkanikottai.
