It's time to know your gigabytes from terabytes. The 2010 Bangalore edition of TCS IT Wiz — a tech quiz for schools — organised annually by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will be held at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall in Vyalikaval near Sankey tank on August 5.

TCS IT Wiz is open to those studying between Class 8 and 12, including PUC students. There is no entry fee. Each institution is allowed to send eight teams, each having two members.

Entries have to be sent through respective institutions on or before August 2 to TCS IT Wiz Co-Ordinator, TCS, SJM Towers, 18, Seshadri Road, Gandhinagar, Bangalore 560 009. Schools can also register online by accessing www.tcs.itwiz.com

Highlights of this year's TCS IT Wiz include blogging and Vlog contests to encourage students to use Web 2.0 technologies and constructive and responsible use of social media. Students can set up their own blogs and vlog based on TCS IT Wiz 2010.

The 2010 TCS IT Wiz Regional Winners will walk away with laptops and runners-up will be rewarded with Netbooks. The six finalists will also receive an array of prizes from TCS ranging from backpacks, MP3 players and so on. Nagaraj Ijari, vice-president and head, TCS Bangalore Operations, said: “Over the past 12 years, TCS IT Wiz has become extremely popular with the tech-savvy generation. We have been raising the bar of the quiz to trigger a passion for IT among students every year.”
