Participating in census helps in developmental process: Min

Mizoram Industries Minister S Hiato today said that proper planning for developmental projects cannot be undertaken without accurate statistical data and it is absurd that some people did not want to participate in the current census on religious ground while demanding assistance from the government.
   
Addressing a function here on the occasion of the fourth Statistic Day, Hiato said that when one participates in the census, he has registered himself in the developmental process of the country.
   
Ngunlala Chinzah, director of the state Economics and Statistics department said that Mizoram Growth Domestic Product during 2006-07 was Rs 3,059.
   
According to the department's data there were 1,51,899 students in the government-run primary Schools in the state with 8,716 teachers and 64,887 students and 7,754 teachers in government middle schools during 2008-09, he said, adding that the teacher-student ratio was 1:17 and 1:8 in primary schools and middle schools respectively.
