Electronics and Communication Engineering most favourite

Mechanical and Electronics and communication engineering continues to be favourites this year too among students attending counselling under the sports quota here on Monday.

Among both, electronics and communication engineering seem to be most favourite, followed by mechanical engineering.

According to Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission secretary, V. Rhymend Uthariaraj, of the 99 students who joined various courses through the sports quota on Monday, 40 enrolled in electronics and communication engineering, 22 opted for mechanical engineering, 13 selected computer science and engineering, 7 chose civil engineering, 3 took aeronautical engineering, 2 each joined biomedical engineering and automobile engineering and one each joined electronics and instrumentation engineering, manufacturing engineering and chemical engineering.

On Tuesday, 648 candidates were called for vocational quota counselling and 24 differently-abled candidates attended the counselling, 17 joined various courses, 4 abstained and 3 opted out without taking any course.

The counselling for 4,900 seats for vocational candidates will go on till July 3 and differently-abled students in the academic stream will sit for counselling on July 4.

Counselling for general academic stream students will start on July 5, Mr Uthariaraj said.
