Cong leader asks Sibal to reduce NIT cutoff marks

Tripura Congress leader has requested Union Minister for Human Resource Department Kapil Sibal to reduce the cutoff marks for students in the state for admission in the National Institute of Technology (NIT) here.
  
There are 189 seats reserved for students in the state, but only 148 seats were filled and as per norms vacant seats would go to the all India pool.
  
Nath, the Leader of the Opposition, told reporters here that he wrote a letter to Sibal recently to reduce the cutoff marks because the pattern of examination in Tripura was different from CBSE and it was difficult for the students to secure a good percentage.
  
"I have sought his intervention because no seat should remain vacant in the current academic session (2010-11) and if the cut off mark (55) remains unchanged, then over 41 seats reserved for students of the state will remain vacant," he said.
