Geologists Exam 2010 by UPSC

UPSC has invited applications from eligible candidates for Geologists' Examination, 2010, to be conducted at various centers across the country, for recruitment to the posts of Geologist, Group A' in the Geological Survey of India and Jr.Hydrogeologist (Scientist B), Group 'A' and Asstt.Hydrogeologist, Gr.'B' in the Central Ground Water Board.

A candidate applying for the Geologists Examination have to possess a Master's degree in Geology/Applied Geology/Marine Geology/Mineral Exploration/Hydrogeology from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or a foreign university approved by the Central Govt. from time to time.

Holders of Dilpoma of Associateship in Applied Geology of the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad are also eligible to apply for the examination.All candidates are to be in the age group between 21 years and 32 years.

Application form alongwith an Information Brochure containing general instructions for filling up the form, an acknowledegment card and an envelope for sending the application are avaialble at the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices throughout the country against cash payment of Rs. 20/- (Rupees twenty only).

Candidates applying Offline (through Common Application Form) are required to pay a fee of Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) through a single Central Recruitment Fee Stamp, available from designated Head Post Offices or P.Os.

Candidates residing abroad have to deposit the prescribed fee in the office of India's High Commissioner, Ambassador or representative abroad as the case may be for credit to account head "051-Public Service Commission-Examination Fees" and attach the receipt with the application.

Application can be sent through online vide website: http://www.upsconline.nic.in. and those candidates are required to pay a reduced fee of Rs. 50/- (Rupees Fifty only) either by remitting the money in any branch of SBI by Cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card. Female/SC/ST/Physically Handicapped candidates  are exempted from payment of fee.

Filled in application form and the acknowledgement card are to be mailed in the special envelope supplied with the Information Brochure to "Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069". Last date of submission of application is 12th July, 2010.
