Innovative PG course at MG University

The School of International Relations and Politics (SIRP), Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, has invited applications for Innovative M.A Programmes for 2010-11. The school is the first institution in the country to offer a two-year M.A programme in public policy and governance. It is sponsored by the UGC. In addition, the school offers other innovative M.A programmes in international relations and human rights.

These programmes are offered through the credit and semester system and, spread over four semesters/two years. Public Policy and Governance is one of the emerging frontier areas of teaching and research. The UGC assistance to Mahatma Gandhi University to initiate this programme during 11th plan period includes financial assistance of Rs.40 lakh besides faculty positions. Students admitted to this programme shall have the opportunity to avail sponsored internship, project work and study tour. The student intake is limited to ten.

Internal assignments and assessment, flexibility in choosing courses and credits, an academic atmosphere characterised by scholar in residence, diplomatic lectures and special lectures make the postgraduate programmes offered by school qualitatively distinct and competitive.

The total number of seats for M.A. programmes in this school is limited to 30.

The credibility and recognition of the programmes offered by the school is illustrated by the fact that ten students from abroad have already taken admission in the SIRP during the current academic year. Admission to the above programmes is through entrance test, interview and qualifying marks. Graduates in any discipline can apply for MA course. Website www.mguniversity.edu. Last date: June 30.
