New Delhi: The Supreme Court today reprimanded the Maharashtra Government authorities for permitting unrecognised Ayurvedic colleges in the state to go ahead with the admission process for the next academic year.

Vacation bench comprising Justices G S Singhvi and C K Prasad said, ''Such action amounted to regularising illegal construction.

Education has become commerce...nay, it has become something worse.'' The authorities had permitted some Ayurvedic colleges which were not recognised by the National Council of Indian Medicine, to make fresh admission for the academic year 2010-11.
