New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is making efforts to provide better environment to its students, Delhi Mayor Kanwar Sain said Tuesday while announcing the opening of a new primary school constructed by the civic agency at Bhajanpura in east Delhi.

"The three-storey building comprises 25 classrooms and is erected in an area of 765.37 square metres and a playground is also being developed in the area adjacent to the school," said Sain.

The new school was constructed by the MCD at the cost of Rs.3 crore. Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Jagdish Mukhi said: "Though MCD is dedicated to the development of the city, the Delhi government is trying hard to encroach upon the rights of the local body."

"Such moves by the state government demoralise the local body and hampers development," he added.
