Work for not-for profit firm & get your fee back from IIMB

Bangalore: Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) has decided to refund fees for any student who chooses to work for any not-for-profit organisation for a period of three years on a pro-rata basis.

Stating this at the 35th annual convocation, IIMB Director Pankaj Chandra said this special programme was developed this year for students who desire to work for the not-for-profit sectors.
He also said: "As committed to the Government, we will fulfill OBC quota in the coming academic year". Chandra said IIMB has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Prof. C Manohar Reddy to review all aspects of the post-graduate programme in order to enhance the quality of the programme and place it on par with best in the world.

Stating that IIMB is strongly committed to the philosophy that no student would be denied an opportunity to pursue the post-graduate programme in management for want of financial resources, he said it has provided financial aid amounting to about Rs 4.38 crore to 136 students during 2009-10.

 Delivering the Director's report, he said 100 companies participated in the recruitment process. Despite the effects of the economic slowdown last year, a total of 330 offers were made by participating companies. This includes 24 overseas posting offered by 11 companies.

He said construction of 300 hostel rooms, 24 faculty houses is in progress and work on a state-of-the-art classroom complex would begin soon.
