Parents move Delhi HC on kids' admission

Updated on: Wednesday, March 24, 2010

New Delhi: A group of parents have approached the Delhi High Court against Navyug Public school which denied nursery admission to their kids due to a disqualification imposed by delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies.

Filing a petition through counsel Ashok Aggarwal, the parents alleged they are residents of Mata Sundri Road and Minto Road in New Delhi areas and have been residing there for the last several decades.
Their children were denied admission by the school due to the delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies by the Election Commission as the areas-Minto Road and Mata Sundri Road were excluded from New Delhi constituency.

Seeking a direction to the Department of Education for appropriate action against Navyug Education Society situated on Tilak Lane, the parents contended the school's action was "unjust, arbitrary and against the fundamental right of the children". The petition may come up for hearing later this week.
