Five-year integrated MA at IIT Madras

The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, has invited online applications through the website http://hsee.iitm.ac.in for humanities and social sciences entrance examination (HSEE 2010) to be held on May 2 (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) at Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Trichy, Coimbatore, Madurai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, New Delhi and Kolkata for admission to five-year integrated MA programmes in one among the three disciplines—economics, English studies and development studies. Online application facility provided from December 21, 2009 to January 21, 2010.

Eligibility: A pass in Plus Two in any subject combination with minimum 60 per cent marks in aggregate. Those who are appearing for the qualifying examination in 2010 are also eligible to apply. Applicants should have been born on or after October 1, 1985.

How to apply

Candidates should apply online and then download a copy of the online application, which should be sent to the IIT Madras along with a bank challan of Rs.800 as entrance exam fee along with attested copies of relevant certificates on or before February 2010. attern of entrance examination is two-and-a-half hours of objective type questions administered through computers and half an hour of essay writing on paper. BITSAT 2010

Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) has invited applications for computer based online test (BITSAT- 2010) to be held between May 10 and June 10, 2010 for admission to the following integrated first degree programmes conducted at its campuses.

BITS Pilani campus: BE (Hons)-Chemical, civil, computer science, electrical and electronics, electronics and instrumentation, mechanical, manufacturing; B.Pharm. (Hons); M.Sc. (Hons)- biological sciences, chemistry, economics, mathematics, physics and M.Sc. (Tech)-general studies, finance, information systems.

BITS, Goa campus: BE (Hons)-chemical, computer science, electrical and electronics, electronics and instrumentation, mechanical; M.Sc. (Hons)- biological science, chemistry, economics, mathematics, physics and M.Sc. (Tech) information systems.

BITS, Hyderabad campus: BE (Hons)-chemical, civil, computer science, electronics and communication, electrical and electronics, mechanical; B.Pharm. (Hons), M.Sc. (Hons)- biological sciences, chemistry, economics, mathematics, physics; M.Sc. (Tech)- information system.

All students admitted to M.Sc. (Hons) programmes will be given an opportunity to work under the dual degree scheme and will be awarded both M.Sc. (Hons) and BE (Hons) / B.Pharm. (Hons) degree.

Eligibility: A pass in Plus Two/ equivalent examination in 2009. Applicants should have obtained minimum of aggregate 80 per cent marks in physics, chemistry and mathematics subjects with at least 60 per cent marks in each of these subjects. Applicants should have adequate proficiency in English. Students who are appearing for in qualifying examination 2010 are also eligible.

How to apply

Apply online through www.bitsadmission.com. Take a printout of the filled in form and send to admission officer, BITS, along with fee of Rs.1000 in the form of a demand draft drawn in favour of BITS payable at SBI Pilani (code: 11309) so as to reach the addressee on or before January 30, 2010.

AIAEE 2010

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has invited applications for All India Agricultural Entrance Examinations (AIEEA 2010) for admission to 15 per cent seats in undergraduate programmes and 25 per cent seats in postgraduate courses in various disciplines of agriculture and allied subjects conducted by the State Agricultural Universities, Central Agricultural University, National Research Institutes, Banaras Hindu University and Aligarh Muslim University. All seats will be filled at ICAR deemed universities and National Dairy Research Institutes based on the rank in the entrance examination. However, admission in veterinary sciences at Bachelor's degree (B.V.Sc. and AH) programme level is not included in this examination.

The entrance examination will be held on April 17, 2010 (10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.), and AIEEA- PG 2010 will be held on April 18, 2010 (10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.)

How to apply

Application form and information bulletin will be distributed through all Agricultural universities including Kerala Agricultural University at Mannuthy, Thrissur from December 29, 2009 to February 16, 2010 on payment of Rs. 400undergraduate programmes and Rs.500 for postgraduate programme 2010.

Application form for AIEEA UG and PG 2010 will also be distributed through the selected Syndicate Bank branches. The application form can also be downloaded from the ICAR website www.icar.org.in. The filled in application along with a bank draft of the prescribed amount should be sent to the office of the controller of examinations, education division, room no. 216, ICAR, Krishi Anusandhan Bhavan-II, Pusa, New Delhi 110012 so as to reach the addressee on or before February 16, 2010.

Eligibility: For undergraduate programmes a pass in Plus Two / equivalent examination with physics, chemistry, mathematics/ biology with 50 per cent marks in aggregate.

For AIEEA PG 2010- A bachelor's degree in any of the discipline viz. agriculture, veterinary, agricultural engineering, fisheries, horticulture, home science, sericulture, dairy technology, forestry, agri-marketing, banking and cooperation, food science and technology, biotechnology with 60 per cent marks.

For undergraduate programmes there will be only one question paper consisting of multiple-choice objective type questions in physics, chemistry, mathematics/ biology/ agriculture. For postgraduate programmes, there will be only one question paper in each major subject groups consisting of multiple-choice objective type questions .
