NID students win award in Hongkong for animation film making

Ahmedabad:  'Chandrama', an animation film, directed by two students from city's National Institute of Design (NID), has won 'Animax Extraordinary  Award' at the recently concluded Autodesk Panorama Asia Pacific Animation Bootcamp-2009 held in Hongkong.

The award winning film directed by Pratik Ghosh and Nikhil Bajpai, students of Animation and Film Design at NID  will be broadcasted on Animax Asia Pacific today. The NID team, participating in the Asia Pacific contest, was judged the best amongst the 11 participanting teams shortlisted for final round of the contest on creativity, originality, motion, technical excellence, overall design and team spirit.

 Overall 57 entries were recieved for the contest, out of which 11 participating teams were shortlisted in the finals.

"The film directed by us will be broadcasted today on Animax Asia Pacific, which is about a 10 year-old girl's dream  to go on Chandrama or moon," student of Animation and Film design at NID Pratik Ghosh said.

"My counterpart Nikhil Bajpai helped me with the animation part, while professionals from Lucasfilm Animation,  Singapore, Imagi Studio, Rhythm and Hues Studio and Rising Sun Pictures provided us insights on film related aspects in animation," he added.
